Our Work: Research, Programs, and Activities

Our work is focused on creating sustainable change through a combination of foundational research, strategic program development, and direct support for our partners at PLA Uganda. Our activities from 2025-2027 are designed to build capacity and empower communities.

  • We are developing comprehensive training modules for PLA Uganda based on our Civic Participation Project. This involves researching US grassroots organizing methods and adapting them for the Ugandan context to bolster civic engagement and community empowerment. We will create diverse materials, including handbooks and video tutorials, to equip community members with skills to advocate for their rights.

  • This project involves a comparative study of labor laws and enforcement in Uganda, the US, and other selected countries. The goal is to identify best practices that can inform policy reform in Uganda, ultimately enhancing worker protections. Volunteers will analyze legal frameworks, collect data, and contribute to research reports that could influence systemic change.

  • In partnership with PLA Uganda's training center, we are planning on creating a comprehensive career coaching curriculum. This program is designed to equip youth and vulnerable workers with the skills and knowledge necessary for career advancement and economic self-sufficiency.

  • We will conduct in-depth research into income diversification opportunities in both the US and Uganda. This comparative study will identify key learnings and may lead to a project focused on coaching low-income individuals on how to build multiple revenue streams.
